As a writer, this book is ESSENTIAL to any writer’s arsenal. I don’t care if you write science fiction or you don’t, you NEED this book to go on your personal bookshelf or your reference pile for future stories. I am not a sole writer for science fiction, but let me tell you, this book helped me with a recent science fiction story that I did have to write. Whether or not you regularly write or read science fiction, this book will let you apply its contents into your stories and books for other genres. Trust me when I say this is one of those reference type booke that you don’t want to miss out on.
And, you don’t have to be a writer to read this either! this is a book that can also be read for enjoyment, whether you’re wanting to learn about new or possible technology from experts to make your story more realistic or whether you’re just wanting to expand your mind because you’re hardcore into science.
Ah, another book by Lynda La Plante. She is such a talented author that I know, no matter what I read of hers, it’s going to be good, interesting, gripping, and will leave me by the seat of my pants until I flip the last page. My first book of hers was Widows, and let me tell you, it set high bars as far as writing is concerned, and she does not disappoint.
Follow Jane Tennison on her journey to hunt down and discover the identity of a serial killer wreaking havoc and murder on the wintry town. Tennison is a likable and relatable character, who you root for from beginning to end.
This book weaves in and out of events seamlessly, never leaving you without suspense and always leaving you with wanting more.
I have heard great things about J.R. Ward prior to this book, but never had the pleasure of reading her books. . . until now.
Consumed is everything a thriller and mystery should be and more. The mystery of the fire starter and Danny and Anne’s search for the fire starter is what kicks this book off to a whirlwind of a start, but when the fire starter begins to target Anna when they’re hot on the arsonist’s trail, this is where the suspense of the novel picks up and grabs you, not letting you go until the very last page.
The writing in this book is wonderful and captivating, thrusting you into the character’s world. It is all-consuming and leaves you thinking about what will happen next. If you’re not reading the book, you’re thinking about the book.

I am seeing a pattern here, where most of the readers did not know it was the second book in a series – or trilogy, rather. I am so glad that I’m not alone! Usually, I catch these things right off the bat, but this time it totally went by me and I didn’t even tell until I was already at the end.
That being said, that’s a good thing! I think that this book would have had more of an impact on me if I had read the first book in the series. Silly me for not completely reading a description. What can I say, I like surprises sometimes.
This book is perfect for those that live in small towns and those that long to live in them (I’m the former). The characters and story told certainly resonates with the small town mindset and this is a wonderful story told beautifully.

This is a great book that will no doubt help a lot of people. This will be best used and kept as a reference book and is certainly a good book to have in your arsenal, whether or not you’re in the entertainment field or looking to go into it.
As someone who is currently most of the way through earning a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, this is definitely a useful book. I am pleased to have this as not only a reference guide, but to also have in my arsenal.
While this book may not give you every single thing you need to know on how to get published, it will certainly be handy for your journey into publishing and certainly can’t hurt. I’d suggest going out there and grabbing this one, no matter where you are on your journey.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. The writing, first and foremost, was captivating and thrilling, well put together, flowed extremely well, and made me not want to miss one second of reading this book.
I am a big fan of psychological thrillers and this one certainly falls within my ‘Top 20’ list for gripping thrillers. A man, getting married, loves his wife. His mother, however, isn’t prepared to let him go. As irritating as this sounds, it is a REALITY, though only partly, because Pammie (a.k.a. mother) is a piece of work, I tell you. I’m sure you’ve known someone like her in your life. The closeness of reality and the thrilling addition of being a work of fiction is what made this book enjoyable, it was a quick read, and it engulfed me.

So, I jumped right into this book as it’s been a while since I have been in the Darkest Minds world, but nevertheless, I loved every page of this!! I love Alexandra Bracken’s writing from the Darkest Minds books and it still carries on in The Darkest legacy. I am super hyped for the movie, releasing this Friday – August 3 – and I love these characters so much. I was glad to see Suzume in a better light and her journey in this book is certainly one of intrigue and interest as she tries to clear her name. I love this series so much, and since reading this, I’ve picked up a copy of the Darkest Minds to sort of re-read, since it’s been years, so I can fully appreciate this book later on, even though it was amazing this first read around!
