The Golden Couple – Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen

A therapist, Avery, who doesn’t go by the rules, is so confident in her techniques that if she can’t fix your issues in 10 sessions, she won’t even bother taking you on. A mother and wife, Marissa, so devoted and guilt-ridden over a one-time mistake, seeks out our therapist because this is exactly what her family needs. Avery conducts a brief interview to determine whether or not she can help those who seek out her therapy techniques. However, if all are not honest, it will bring up issues down the road, and surprises lurking in the shadows.

Full of suspense, twists, and turns, this book will have you on the edge of your seat and staying up until 5 a.m. to finish it. I have adored Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen since their first novel, The Wife Between Us, and they continue to put out stellar books with each publication.

I received an e-ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review, as well as chose this book for my February 2022 Book of the Month pick!

Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall

RFV.jpgRules for Vanishing was a thrilling ride. I love documentary-styled novels, similar to Sleeping Giants, because it really makes the entire book come to life in a different way than just getting lost in a really good, traditional novel.

This book reminded me both of The Blair Witch Project and Broken Girls (young girl goes missing: girls, foul play, and ghosts are suspect), both in the way they tell their stories and the sinister feelings it has lying underneath.

This book brings me back to my adolescent age, where everything was an adventure, even the spooky things. As an adult who still loves reading semi-young adult novels and stories, this one read well enough for it to be smack dab in between adult and ya. Don’t pass this one up. It’s great for a read anytime, but if you’re feeling particularly spooky, read this when you’re all alone for a good weekend.
